How Many Agents are working in Punta Cana?
Actually, there’s a lot more than what you see online. As in North America, you have agents working part time and full time, but being that real estate is such a hot topic in Punta Cana, you can find a gardener, taxi driver and a hotel worker offering you real estate properties for sale. Very few agents are traditional real estate agents. Punta Cana has developed its own unique market environment for people working in real estate. Does that sound a bit crazy? Well yes, it does, but over the years we’ve learned how to make this work to the best advantage for both our sellers and our buyers. Many of these ‘agents’ are in touch with visitors and local residents all day long and have some great referrals to offer. We work together with all area agents and wannabes to make sure we get the largest amount of clients. We didn’t invent how things are today, but we do make it work dynamically, to the ultimate benefit of our sellers and buyers.
Why do Punta Cana Agents refuse to share listings? (the truth) We have been told by many buyers that local agents refuse to work with other agents, refusing to show properties, leaving them to wander around with several agents for their Punta Cana purchase. Many of our North American buyers are not used to this behavior, as to them it may be considered unethical by REALTORS in their country.
The reality is that few local agents have the infrastructure for listing, marketing, sales, administration or the referral network that we have created. Many are busy running vacation rental agencies and selling related services such as excursions and transportation, or working other full-time jobs. Naturally many of them will keep their own listings away from other agents. It’s often a question of resources, as almost none would have the staff or time to process other agents’ viewings. Nor do they want to share their commission fee with other agents.
